Hello, my fellow sci-fi enthusiasts! 👋 Are you ready to warp through time and space to explore the most iconic alien moments in TV history? From classic shows to recent hits, we’ll delve into the extraterrestrial worlds that captured our imaginations and left us in awe. 🛸

So sit back, grab your phasers (or your sonic screwdrivers, depending on your fandom), and join me on this journey through the stars. 🚀

Roswell (1999-2002)

Let’s start with a classic: Roswell. This show followed a group of teenagers who happened to be aliens hiding out on Earth. It explored themes of identity, acceptance, and belonging, all while throwing in some sci-fi action and romance for good measure. 👽💘

There were plenty of memorable moments over the course of the show’s three seasons, but one that stands out is the reveal of the aliens’ true forms. In the season 1 finale, Liz (the human love interest of one of the aliens) is shot and seemingly dying. Her alien friends have to risk exposing themselves and use their powers to save her. As they do, their skin peels away to reveal their true forms: large, scaly creatures with glowing eyes and sharp teeth.

The X-Files (1993-2002, 2016-2018)

No list of iconic alien TV moments would be complete without mentioning The X-Files. This show was all about investigating the paranormal, and aliens were a major part of that. 👽🛸

One of the most iconic moments from the show occurs in season 4, in an episode called “Home.” Mulder and Scully investigate a small town where a family of inbred mutants have been keeping their mother under the bed and using her to breed more siblings. As if that wasn’t creepy enough, it’s eventually revealed that the family is in fact the result of alien experimentation. The episode ends with the mother alien returning to the bedroom where she was trapped, surrounded by her mutant offspring.

Doctor Who (1963-present)

Doctor Who has had plenty of alien encounters over its many decades on air, but one moment in particular stands out. In the episode “The Day of the Doctor,” which celebrated the show’s 50th anniversary, the Doctor has to team up with a previously unknown incarnation of himself in order to save Gallifrey from destruction in the Time War.

The twist? This previously unknown Doctor is played by none other than John Hurt, and he’s referred to as the “War Doctor.” He’s an incarnation that the main character has purposely forgotten because of the pain and suffering associated with him. The moment when the War Doctor is revealed is a major one for any Doctor Who fan, and it was a clever way to mark the show’s anniversary. 👨‍🦲👨‍🦲👨‍🦲🕰️

Stranger Things (2016-present)

Stranger Things may not be the most obvious choice for a list of alien TV moments, but hear me out. The show’s third season introduced a new threat from above: the Mind Flayer. This creature, which had been lurking in the Upside Down (a parallel universe) since the first season, finally made its presence known in a big way.

The Mind Flayer is essentially a giant, sentient cloud of smoke and tendrils, but it’s still one of the most terrifying things on the show. Its plan involves taking over human hosts and turning them into its mindless minions. The season ends with the Mind Flayer seemingly defeated (for now), but it’s clear that this creature is still a major threat to the town of Hawkins. 🙀

Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-1994)

Last but not least, we have Star Trek: The Next Generation. This show explored many different corners of space, and it introduced plenty of memorable alien races along the way (Klingons, anyone?). But one moment in particular stands out, and it involves everyone’s favorite android, Data.

In the episode “The Measure of a Man,” Data is put on trial to determine whether or not he has the right to refuse orders. The debate hinges on whether or not Data is a sentient being or just a machine that’s programmed to act like one. The prosecutor argues that Data is just a machine, and therefore doesn’t have the right to refuse orders. But Captain Picard (Data’s friend and advocate) makes a passionate defense of Data’s sentience, culminating in the iconic line: “Data is a living, breathing being.” 🤖👨‍⚖️

And there you have it, my fellow sci-fi fans! We’ve explored some of the most iconic moments in TV history that involve aliens. From classic shows to recent hits, these moments have captured our imaginations and left us in awe. Now if you’ll excuse me, I think I need to go re-watch some X-Files. 👽📺👀
