Hey, guys! It’s your girl, Jane! Today, I want to talk about my experience with intermittent fasting. I’m not a health expert, but I decided to give it a try because I wanted to lose a little weight and improve my overall health. In this blog, I’ll share with you the good, the bad, and the unexpected things that happened during my intermittent fasting journey.

Before we dive into my story, let me first explain what intermittent fasting is. It’s basically a pattern of eating where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting. There are different types of intermittent fasting, but the most popular are the 16:8 method (fast for 16 hours and eat during an 8-hour window), 5:2 method (eat normally for 5 days and eat 500-600 calories for 2 non-consecutive days), and alternate day fasting (fast for 24 hours then eat normally for 24 hours).

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about my intermittent fasting journey!

The Good 💪

The first thing I noticed when I started intermittent fasting was that I had more energy throughout the day. I used to feel sluggish after eating, but with intermittent fasting, I never felt that way. I also experienced weight loss, which was great! I lost a few pounds in just a few weeks! Intermittent fasting also helped me control my portion sizes. Since I only eat during a specific window of time, I make sure to eat enough during that time to keep me satisfied until my next meal. This helped me avoid overeating.

The Bad 🤦‍♀️

Of course, there were also some downsides to intermittent fasting. The first few days were difficult. I felt hungry all the time! I had to make sure I kept myself hydrated by drinking a lot of water, but even that didn’t completely eliminate my hunger. Another drawback was that I sometimes felt light-headed or dizzy. It was especially bad when I worked out in the morning. However, it was just a matter of getting used to the new routine, and after a week or so, I no longer experienced those symptoms.

The Unexpected 🤔

The biggest unexpected benefit I experienced with intermittent fasting was that it helped me with my food cravings! I used to have a sweet tooth and always craved chocolate and candy, but since starting intermittent fasting, those cravings disappeared! I also found that I had more mental clarity and focus, which was a nice bonus.
