Welcome to my humble abode! I’m a bit of a neat freak and absolutely love a tidy living space. Life can get hectic at times, but having a clean and organized home has always kept me grounded and focused. With that being said, I wanted to share with you my top 10 easy steps to declutter your home and simplify your life. So, grab your cleaning supplies and let’s get started!

Step 1: Start Small

Decluttering an entire home can seem like a daunting task, so it’s best to start small. Begin with one room at a time and then move onto the next. If you try to declutter everything all at once, you’re more likely to get overwhelmed and give up. So, take it one step at a time and see the progress you make in each room.

Step 2: Create a System

Before you begin decluttering, create a system that works for you. Figure out what items you want to keep, sell, donate, or throw away. This will make decluttering much easier and organized. You can use labels or color-coded bins to make the sorting process run smoothly.

Step 3: Take on the Kitchen

The kitchen is usually the heart of any home, but it’s also a place that can get cluttered very easily. Start by cleaning out your pantry and fridge and throwing away any expired items. Donate any unopened and unwanted food to your local food bank. After that, clean your countertops and cabinets, wiping everything down and throwing away any old or broken dishes.

Step 4: Be Brutal with Clothes

We all have clothes that we don’t wear or haven’t worn in years. It’s time to say goodbye to those items! Go through your closet and drawers and pull out any items that you haven’t worn in the past year. Donate any items that are still in good condition and toss anything that is beyond repair.

Step 5: Get Rid of the Junk Drawer

Almost everyone has a junk drawer, but it’s time to get rid of it! Go through each item in that drawer and decide if it’s something you really need or if it’s just taking up space. Toss anything that doesn’t have a purpose and find a new place for the items that you need to keep.

Step 6: Let Go of Sentimental Items

This can be a tough one, but it’s important to let go of sentimental items that are taking up space. This doesn’t mean that you need to get rid of everything sentimental, but try to be selective with what you keep. You can always take a picture of the item and keep it digitally.

Step 7: Organize Your Book Collection

Books are great, but they can take up a lot of space. Go through your book collection and decide which books you want to keep and which ones you can donate or sell. You can also organize your bookshelves by alphabetizing or categorizing your collection.

Step 8: Clean and Declutter Your Bathroom

The bathroom can often become cluttered with beauty products and toiletries. Start by decluttering your drawers and cabinets and get rid of any expired items. Donate any unused or unopened items to your local women’s shelter. After that, clean your shower, toilet, and sink, and let the fresh and clean vibes flow.

Step 9: Digitize Documents

Paperwork can be overwhelming, especially when it starts to pile up. Consider digitizing your important documents and receipts to reduce clutter and make it easier to find what you need. This will also make it easier to keep track of everything in case of an emergency.

Step 10: Maintain Your Space

After you’ve completed these steps, it’s important to maintain your newly decluttered space. Take a few minutes each day to tidy up and put items back where they belong. This will prevent clutter from building up and make it easier to keep your space clean and organized.
